OVERWATCH UltimateS series: Packaging

When Hasbro obtained the license for Overwatch, I was asked to work on this exciting new brand, made up of 6” collectible action figures and role play items. When I was brought in to help out, our Creative Director had already worked with the licensor as well as a best in class visual arts studio to ideate and create, a unique packaging foundation and character illustration style to bring gaming characters to life on packaging.

THE PROCESS

My task was to take the new assets to the next level. I was provided with the front of the box design and character sketches to work with. I dove in to ideate what the sides and back of the box would look like, bringing in character specific icons and stats from the game, coming up with a cohesive and informative layout adaptable enough to be applied to single action figures, multi figure packs, and role play items. I collaborated closely with the Creative Director, Creative Manager, Licensor, Illustrators and other vendors to bring this line to life on shelf.

THE RESULT

A Spring 2019 launch that delivered a bold, cohesive, premium packaging and branding system that elevated shelf presence and clearly positioned the assortment as a collector-focused offering, while maintaining strong brand consistency across all characters, with 25+ sku’s.
