SUSTAINABILITY:
Plastic free PACKAGING

In 2019, Hasbro rolled out it’s Plastic Free Initiative. The goal was to eliminate nearly all plastic from new toy and game packaging by the end of 2022. My challenge here was to come up with innovative packaging solutions to maintain product visibility and clearly communicate product features without the use of plastic.

THE PROCESS

Transitioning to plastic-free packaging introduced several unique challenges. Without a visible product, I had to rethink how to communicate value and clearly show consumers what they were purchasing. This required developing a more robust visual storytelling approach—securing additional product renders, creating multi-angle graphics, and incorporating clear callouts and feature highlights. I also prioritized establishing accurate product scale and a visual “includes” list to ensure full transparency about what was inside the box.

Throughout the process, I collaborated closely with our licensors to ensure every solution remained aligned with established brand guidelines.
